On September 6th, Bowers & Wilkins retired the CM Series and while most audiophiles that have an affinity to the iconic British hifi brand could potentially shed a few tears upon receiving this news, grief would soon be replaced by euphoria after meeting its replacement. The new 700 Series has been designed and manufactured utilizing new technology as well as research and development derived from the flagship 800 Series. Like a real-life love affair, listening to the 700 Series will make you feel a little guilty falling in love with the successor of the impressive CM Series line, but it is safe to say if the upgrade takes place your ex would be jealous.

Despite the 700 Series maintaining the strikingly gorgeous looks of the CM Series this is more than just a name swap, significant changes made throughout the line have taken place to thrill the most discerning ear. The 700 Series has made improvements and incorporated technology from the more expensive 800 Series but still manages to find a balance between price and quality. The 700 Series newly designed tweeter delivers sweeter, clearer high frequencies than the CM series double dome tweeter, further heightening the listening experience. Those familiar with the iconic Bowers & Wilkins yellow Kevlar midrange driver can bid farewell to them and welcome the silky-smooth silver ‘Continuum’ material driver that was developed in-house and has trickled down from the flagship 800 series to produce the cleanest, most transparent midrange ever according to the company as well as critics. Depending on which model you purchase, the 700 Series also borrows more 800 series technology with the use of a modified areofoil cone for a more stiff and responsive bass frequency reproduction.

The 700 series comprises of eight models that fully replace the CM series offerings, these include three towers, three stand-mounted monitors and two centre speakers for home theatre applications. All models are available in a choice of gloss black, satin white and rosenut finishes. You can always also visit, email or call the store to schedule an appointment to hear the 700 Series.
